Godzilla Squares Off With King Ghidorah in New King of Monsters Poster

Posted in: Anime News

The upcoming movie in the Godzilla franchise, Godzilla: King of Monsters has just released new movie posters. The poster shows the King of Monsters himself, Godzilla, squaring off with his arch enemy, the three-headed dragon King Ghidorah. It appears that their showdown will take place in Washington, D.C., as evidenced by a ravaged Capitol Building burning between them.

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. narrates the premise of the King of Monsters movie as such:

“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”

This movie will also be the first Hollywood appearances of Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah—the three most popular Toho kaijus just after Godzilla himself. Teaser posters for these three mega kaijus were released last year, and you can check them out below:

Godzilla: King of Monsters is directed by Michael Dougherty and produced by Legendary Pictures. The film stars Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Jackson, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Ken Watanabe, among others. The film is slated for a May 31 premiere in the U.S. and Japan.
