New Fruits Basket Trailer Released in Japanese Dub, Justin Cook Returns as English VA of Hatsuharu

For today’s news on the highly-anticipated reboot of Fruits Basket: an all-new trailer of Furuba was just released by FUNimation in English sub! We get to hear, for the first time, the show’s new Japanese voice actors Nobunaga Shimazaki, Yuma Uchida, and Yuichi Nakamura as Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure respectively. Check it out below!

And now, we also have some news from Furuba’s Western release: Hatsuharu Soma’s original English voice actor Justin Cook is set to return to the series as well! He joins returning cast members Laura Bailey (Tohru Honda), Eric Vale (Yuki Soma), Jerry Jewell (Kyo Soma), and John Burgmeier (Shigure Soma), who voiced the original English dub in 2001. On the other hand, Momiji and Kagura Soma will be voiced by Mikaela Krantz and Tia Ballard. Both are new to the series.

The Fruits Basket reboot will feature an all-new Japanese cast & staff, as per series creator Natsuki Takaya’s request. The series will be directed by Yoshihide Ibata, with Taku Kishimoto writing the script and Masaru Shindo in charge of character designs. Takaya herself serves as the reboot’s executive supervisor. The animé is produced by TMS Entertainment and is set to air on April 2019.
