A new smartphone game for Dr. Mario is set for a summer 2019 release!

Dr. Mario World, a new iteration of the Dr. Mario game series, is coming to iOS and Android devices this year. The game will be co-developed by Nintendo, NHN Entertainment and LINE Corporation (which also developed Disney’s Tsum Tsum mobile games).

Only a few details have been released, such as the application being a free-to-download game with in-app purchases. The smartphone version could still follow the tradition of Dr. Mario being a puzzle game, with players matching capsules of different colors to eliminate the viruses in each game level. The game is targeted to be released in 60 countries including the US and Japan.

Dr. Mario was first released in 1990 for NES and has since been ported to other Nintendo consoles.
