Love Live Sunshine’s Aqours Earns its First Weekly #1

Aqours’ newest single, “Bokura no Hashittekita Michi wa… / Next SPARKLING!!” has topped Oricon’s January 21-27 weekly single chart!

The single’s title songs, which featured as insert songs in the movie Love Live! Sunshine! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow, sold 74, 413 copies in its first week of release according to Oricon. The single shipped on January 23.

The Over the Rainbow movie opened in Japan on January 4, earning a total of 93, 963, 900 yen in the first three days of its release. The movie follows through on the second season of the highly popular idol animé, where Aqours won the Love Live contest. As the first and second years prepare to enroll in a new school, the third years suddenly go missing during their graduation trip to Italy. Chika and her fellow Aqours members go to Italy to look for the third years.
