VIZ Media Plans to Release ‘Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us’ Anime Film on BD and DVD!

It was announced on Wednesday by VIZ Media that the company have officially acquired the license (US and Canada) to the 21st Pokemon anime film titled Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us and plans to release it on DVD and Blu-ray. Aside from this, they have also licensed its spin-off manga Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us—Zeraora and it is slated to be released this summer.

Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us premiered in Japan last July 13 and was ranked #2 in the Japanese Box Office on its opening day. It was also screened in the United States by Fathom Events from November 24 to December 3 last year and earned US$ 789,170 in the U.S. Box Office.

The movie tells the story of our main characters Ash and Pikachu as they journey to a small seaside town filled with a diverse set of characters. In this movie they meet a young athlete, a compulsive liar, a shy researcher, a bitter old woman, and a little girl with a big secret.

While the upcoming physical copy is expected to be released by VIZ, the movie is available for purchase digitally through various digital and official streaming platforms.
