An anime adaptation has been green-lit for the “Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou!” a.k.a. “The Eighth Son? That Can’t Be Right!” light novel series. Announced by Kadokawa on Friday, the announcement was commemorated by the light novels’ illustrator Fuzichoco (R.O.D Rehabilitation) with an illustration.

“Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou!” is an isekai type series that released in June 2013. Created by Y.A., the series was serialized on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let’s Become Novelists) website until March 2017. It was in September 2015 that Kadokawa began publishing the story in print volumes with illustrations by Fuzichoco. The light novel series had recently launched its 14th volume on September 25 and will ship the 15th volume on December 25.

A manga adaptation of the series was created by Hiroki Kusumoto on Kadokawa’s ComicWalker website in 2015. So far the manga has five volumes published by Kadokawa and will be having its sixth volume shipped on December 25.

The story of the series tells of a 25 years old man named Ichinomiya Shingo. He was a worker of a firm company and had one night gone to sleep while thinking of tomorrow’s busy working day only to wake up and realize he has ended up in an unknown room. He soon learns that he has taken over the mind of a 6 years-old child. Having gained the memories of the boy, Shingo finds that said boy is the youngest (8th son and 10th child) of a poor noble family living in the countryside.

His new identity is Wendelin Von Benno Baumeister and given he has no administrative skill, there is little he can do in managing the vast land of his family. On the other hand, he is blessed with the very rare talent of magic. Unfortunately, while it could bring prosperity to his family, in his situation it only led to a disaster.

On another note, a “Volume 10.5” booklet of the light novel series with a drama CD was recently released by Kadokawa in February 2017. Starring in the drama CD was the following:

Takuma Terashima as Wendelin
Saori Hayami as Elise
Showtaro Morikubo as Erwin
Eriko Matsui as Iina
Asami Imai as Louise
Yū Sanada as Inū
