It was announced on Tuesday by popular streaming platform Netflix that they will be producing a 10-episode live-action adaptation series of the popular Cowboy Bebop anime.

Christopher Yost (who was screenwriter for Marvel films Thor: The Dark World and Thor:Ragnarok) is confirmed to be writing the series’ first episode.

The director of the original anime Shinichiro Watanabe is credited as the series’ consultant. While other people involved in the production are Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio, Marty Adelstein and Becky Celements (Tomorrow Studios), Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise are also involved in the production.

Synopsis (as described by Netflix):

Based on the worldwide phenomenon from Sunrise Inc., Cowboy Bebop is the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price.
