A Spin-off Anime has the Girls of "Katana Maidens ~Toji no Miko" Shrunk Down

The ladies of “Katana Maidens ~Toji no Miko” make a return as a new spin-off anime is revealed and has the girls as chibis. Entitled “Mini Toji”, the spin-off will premiere in January 2019 in Japan.

Directing the work is Yuu Nobuta, an episode director who worked on the “Ouran High School Host Club” series. With them to work on the series composition is Aoi Akashiro, the writer behind the “Fuuka” series. Hiromi Ogata, an animation director of the “Blue Exorcist” anime will be designing the characters of the series as well act as the chief animation director. As for the production of the anime, it will be done by project No. 9.

No story has been confirmed for the spin-off but the cast has been listed and it includes:

Hina Kino as Sayaka Itomi.
Risae Matsuda as Kaoru Mashiko.

“Katana Maidens ~Toji no Miko” is a Japanese media franchise produced by Genco, co-produced by Crunchyroll, and animated by Studio Gokumi. It first appeared as a manga series created by Sakae Saito and was serialized in the December 2017 issue of Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Shōnen Ace on October 26, 2017. The anime series premiered in January 2018 and ran until June 2018 with a total of 24 episodes.

The story of the series sets in a world where shrine maidens are known as respected figures. Since ancient times they have been exorcizing “aratama,” strange existences that threaten the human world. Now these young women who wear school uniforms and a sword are called "Toji.” Serving as an official unit within the police force as a "special religious service police squad,” they are recognized as government officials.

For those who wish to become one of the Toji, there exist five schools where young girls attend and train. When spring arrives, spring, the five schools send their best Toji to compete in a tournament.
