The highly anticipated Pokemon games Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will released for the Nintendo Switch next Friday. New videos were uploaded on Wednesday featuring the games’ Elite Four and Gym Leaders. Team rocket, returning characters, and rivals from the earlier Kanto-region games were also teased.
Aside from the release of the mentioned games, the Nintendo Switch Pikachu & Eevee Edition will also be shipped on the same day. Those who purchase this will have one of the games pre-installed plus feature themed Joy-Con controllers.
The game is set in the franchise’s first region Kanto and based from the 1998 game Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition. You can play with only one Joy-Con controller which means another player can be with you in going along the game. You can also control the throwing of Pokeballs using the Joy-Con controller similar to the mechanics of the mobile app Pokemon GO. You can now walk with your captured Pokemon or ride them. The Pokemon will now have the capacity to find hidden items.
New Pokemon Meltan and Melmetal will be available in the games though trading via the Pokemon GO smartphone game. Nintendo will also release a Poke Ball Plus controller which will function as a Joy-Con but you can also “hold” one Pokemon that can also be transferred to your Pokemon GO smartphone game account. Pokemon that you captured in Pokemon GO can also be transferred to the Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! games.
It was announced by GAME FREAK director Junichi Masuda that Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will probably be his last work as game director for this popular franchise. Masuda is the director, producer, and designer of the various games in the Pokemon game franchise. He is also the developer for the Pokemon Green and Pokemon Red games.
