Synopsis
Beelzebub is known as a great demon king who rules over several millions of demons. To serve as her attendant is a dream job for Mullin given how he’s admired the demon king. However, at the beginning of his tenure, Mullin learns that rather than a dignified and graceful ruler, Beelzebub is a laid-back girl with a love for fluffy things. Thus begins the daily-life comedy of Mullin with the fluff loving Beelzebub along with the other colorful characters of Pandemonium.
The Good
If you’re looking for an anime that will leave you smiling or leave you feeling fluffy, this is the series for you. From the art style, the tone and even the way the characters interact with one another, there’s a soft undertone that sets a great mood for the series. It also helped that the characters held a solid introduction to them and were given a fun and adorable dynamic between them. What’s more, they weren’t just one note characters which were nice. Other than this, the general concept of the series with the demons looking nothing like the usual is an interesting note for the series.
The Bad
As soft and interesting as the episode presents the series to be, there is some down points to be noted. They’re not necessarily bad, but it is notable that there are at least one or two tropes to be found with the series. With the way that the episode ended, it’s clear that the series is going to have some notes of romance slipped in. And from what was shown in the opening theme sequence, it’s clear that the series will be featuring other pairs with comedy waiting to happen. Honestly, for a first episode, the flaws of the episode are very minor and pale to the set-up of the episode.
Conclusion
It’s a work of pure fluff that many can enjoy. With a pleasant art style and characters that presents a cute dynamic, there is very little that won’t leave you smiling with this series. Given it is only the first episode, there is very little to note as a flaw for the episode. However, with what the opening theme presents, they may be one or two tropes coming up. Still, the characters are enjoyable and the note of romance place after the solid comedy brings a good amount of potential for the series.
