“KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!” first began as a web novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki and was released in December 2012. The series ran until October 2013 with a total of 6 volumes under the publication of Shousetsuka ni Narou. While the web novel ended in October 2013, the series was revised into a printed light novel series with illustrations by Kurone Mishima and was published under Kadokawa Shoten’s Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko Imprint.

Following this in October 2014, the series was adapted into a manga series illustrated by Masahito Watari and Joseph Yokobori. The anime adaptation of the series made its debut in January 2016 and ran until March 2017 with a total of 20 episodes and 2 OVAs.

The story of the series begins in the aftermath of the sudden but rather embarrassing death of a Japanese teenager shut-in NEET named Kazuma Satō. Upon his death, he meets a goddess named Aqua who offers to reincarnate him in a parallel world with MMORPG elements, where he can go on adventures and battle monsters.

However, while choosing between a superpowered item or ability to use in this new world, he ends up being provoked by Aqua and decides to bring her to the new world. Thus begins a comedic tale involving a young man forming a dysfunctional party with a goddess, a wizard, and a crusader to fight against monsters.
