A New "Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-" OAV is Under Works

As the debut of the “Re: ZERO Starting Life in Another World: Memory Snow” OAV draws near, an announcement is made by the official website of the “Re: ZERO” franchise. Already, a second OAV episode has been confirmed.

Titled as “Re: ZERO Starting Life in Another World: Hyouketsu no Kizuna” (“Freezing Bonds”), there are no staff or cast details confirmed for the work. What is known is that the title is the same as the novel that the work will be based on. Said novel was a special feature that was included as a limited edition bonus with the first run of the Japanese Bluray and DVD release of the “Re: ZERO Starting Life in Another World” TV anime.

The story of the work tells of Emilia and Puck. An event that took place before Emilia is called to Roswaal Mansion to become a candidate in the king’s election.

With the “Re: ZERO Starting Life in Another World: Memory Snow” OAV, it takes place in the aftermath of Subaru and friends defeating the Demon Beast Wolgarm, the source of the curse, and save the children of Irlam village. While the others enjoy a moment of peace, Subaru sets off on a secret mission in disguise. His disguise immediately fails however as he is recognized by Petra and other children of the village. Now Subaru must find another way to pursue his “date course” with Emilia.

“Re: ZERO” is a media franchise that first began as a series of light novels written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka. Initially, the series was serialized on the website Shōsetsuka ni Narō from 2012 onwards; by January 2014, the series gained a publication by Media Factory and had 16 volumes released. The anime adaptation of the series premiered in April 2016 and the manga series stretched into three works and two anthologies.

The main story of the series features a hikikomori named Subaru Natsuki. One day when heading home from a convenience store, he finds himself suddenly transported to another world. And this only marks the start of his adventures.
