33-year-old Hitomi Yoshizawa was arrested recently in Tokyo due to a suspected hit-and-run of a biker. She is a former member of the Japanese idol group, Morning Musume.

According to police reports, Yoshizawa was driving under the influence of alcohol on Thursday at 7 in the morning as she hit a female biker at a crosswalk, ignoring the red light and did not stop to check on the biker. Both the biker and a nearby man sustained some light injuries. The car did not stop to check and just left the scene.

Just 15 minutes later after the incident happened, she then called the local police herself to report about the accident and admitted that she ran over a bicycle.

As of this time, the former idol’s agency has not released a formal statement in relation to the incident but offered sincere apologies and for what had happened. They have also promised that they will be looking into this case and be dealing with it fairly.

Yoshizawa was Morning Musume’s leader in 2005 until her graduation in 2007. After her career with the idol group, she still continued working in the Japanese entertainment industry playing small roles like in the anime Kirarin Revolution and Tottoko Hamutarō: Ham Ham Ham – Jya! Maboroshi no Princess anime film.
