The “Detective Conan” franchise gains a new addition to its manga division as a manga adaptation for the 2010 anime film “Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in The Sky” is announced by the October issue of Shogakukan’s Shōnen Sunday S magazine.
Set to release on September 25 in the November issue of the magazine, the manga will be worked on by Yutaka Abe and Jirō Maruden.
“Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in The Sky” is the 14th film of the “Detective Conan” franchise and made its debut on April 17, 2010. The film was directed by Yasuichiro Yamamoto, who worked on a majority of “Detective Conan”/“Case Closed” films, and “Case Closed’s” scriptwriter Kazunari Kouchi.

The story of the film featured Kid (a.k.a. Kaitou Kid, a recurring thief character of the series) having his eyes on the “Lady of the Sky” jewel aboard Bell 3, the largest airship in the world. However, things go awry when the airship along with Conan and his allies Kogoro and Ran ends up hijacked by a mysterious terrorist group called Red Shamu-neko
The upcoming manga is not the first time that the film was adapted into a printed work as a two-volume “anime comic” was published by Shogakukan in 2010 then was followed by a one-volume format in 2013.
“Detective Conan” a.k.a. “Case Closed” is a long-running franchise that had its start as a manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama and released in January 1994. As of December 2017, the series has a total of 94 volumes. In the course of its run, the franchise has expanded into a number of animated feature films, original video animations, video games, audio disc releases, and live action episodes.
The main story of the series features the adventures of an amateur detective named Shinichi Kudo. He was considered as a prodigal high school student until he ended up transformed into a child by a mysterious organization. Being turned into a child doesn’t stop Shinichi from being a detective, however. Taking on the name Conan Edogawa and with the help of gadgets from a family friend, he solves a multitude of cases while impersonating his friend’s father and other characters.
