Osomatsu-san Returns in 2019 with Film

A new addition is announced for the “Mr. Osomatsu” franchise and it is a new film set to release in Japan next spring. Titled as “Osomatsu-san The Movie”/“Eiga Osomatsu-san”, staff, cast and story details have been confirmed for the film.

With the upcoming film, there are a number of staff and cast to work on the production. The returning cast members for the film include:

Hiroshi Kamiya as Choromatsu
Jun Fukuyama as Ichimatsu
Daisuke Ono as Jūshimatsu
Miyu Irino as Todomatsu
Aya Endo as Totoko
Kenichi Suzumura as Iyami
Sachi Kokuryu as Chibita
Yōji Ueda as Dekapan
Nobuo Tobita as Dayōn
Momoko Saito as Hatabō
Kazuhiko Inoue as Matsuzō Matsuno
Kujira as Matsuyo Matsuno

As for the staff, there are three members confirmed to work on the production. There is director Yoichi Fujita who also worked on the “ClassicaLoid” and “Gintama” series. And scriptwriter Shū Matsubara who also worked on the “ClassicaLoid” series for a short time of five episodes. Last but not least, working on the character designs once more is Naoyuki Asano who majorly worked as a key animator. Taking charge of the animation production is Studio Pierrot and distributing the film is Shochiku.

Regarding the story of the film, it was teased by the film’s website that it would be featuring a new story about the sextuplets going to a high school class reunion. Other than film details, it has been announced that the first batch of advance paper tickets for the movie went on sale on Sunday.

A special feature for the batch is that each purchase comes with one of six different clear file folders. The same bundle with a MoviTicke card instead of the paper ticket will go on sale on September 16. Featured in both ticket is the film’s visual which was done by Asano.

The “Mr. Osomatsu” anime first made its debut in 2015 and ran for a total of 25 episodes before ending in March 2016. The second season of the series ran from October 2017 to March 2018. The series was created in celebration of Fujio Akatsuka’s eightieth birthday and acted as a sequel series to the artist’s “Osomatsu-kun” series. It featured the tale of the sextuplet Matsuno brothers as adults and living as NEETs while having wild daily adventures.
