With the “Cells at Work” a.k.a. “Hataraku Saibou” anime set to release on Saturday, the series has been listed to have seven home video releases and 13 episodes by Amazon.
The anime will be streamed on Crunchyroll by Aniplex of America and the showing begins at 24:00 (effectively midnight on Sunday morning). The series is produced by David Production with “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s” series director Kenichi Suzuki as its director. Yuuko Kakihara, who worked as on the “School Babysitters” anime, will be acting as the series composer. Working on the character designs and acting as the chief animation director is Takahiko Yoshida, the character designer behind the “Yowamushi Pedal” series.
Credited as the cell character designer, prop designer, and animation scene animation director though is Kenta Mimuro. Noted as the sub-character designer is Kenta Mimuro. And finally working on the music composition is Kenichiro Suehiro who will be working at MAYUKO.
The story of the series takes place within the human body and features anthropomorphic cells as they go about their jobs. From red cells delivering nutrients to white cells dealing with the different troubles, the body goes through such as invasions from viruses and bacteria. There are all kinds of cells working together in maintaining their world.

“Cells at Work” is based on the manga written and illustrated by Akane Shimizu. It was serialized in Kodansha’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius starting in March 2015. The series is currently running with 5 volumes released so far and the series licensed in North America by Kodansha USA. The manga also received three spinoff works.
