Live Animation Heart x Algorhythm Returns in Fall 2018 for a Second Season

At the Mobile World Congress event held in Shanghai, China, it has been confirmed that the Japanese-Chinese co-production project “Live Animation Heart x Algorhythm” will be getting a second season.

The new season is set to arrive in Japan and China this fall and will have “Kemono Friends” producer Yoshitada Fukuhawa joining the project. It was from August to October 2017 that the first season streamed with a total of eight episodes. The series was an anime that featured 3DCG characters created with Sega Interactive’s real-time CG animation system “DL-EDGE,” and starred two virtual idols.

They are named Kilin and Xi and were designed by KEI, the original designer of Hatsune Miku. For the new season, NOB-C, who worked on “Urawa no Usagi-chan.” Kilin is voiced by Minori Suzuki who played the role of Akiho Shinomoto in “Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card.” Xi, on the other hand, is voiced by Emiri Iwai, the voice actress behind Arisu Hanazono in “Oshiete Mahō no Pendulum: Rilu Rilu Fairilu.” However, with Xi being a Chinese idol, she has her singing voice being done by Xiao Wu.

For the new season, animation studio Yaoyorozu, which is known for having produced “Kemonono Friends” will be taking on the production alongside Just Production studio. Collaborating on the motion capture work and 3D CG production is DMM.futureworks. And W-Toon Studio is animating the series. As for the interactive elements and streaming of the series, is Dwango, which is known for having produced the anime series “Uta no Prince-sama – Maji Love 1000% ‘ and “Blood-C”

The story of the series tells of Japanese speaker Kilin who loves Japanese culture and Chinese speaker Xi who loves Chinese culture. The two were created by a mysterious producer named Bunny P and their mission is to be a linking bridge between Japan and China.

It was in March 2017 that the virtual project was first announced at a booth at the AnimeJapan 2017 event. The project was described as the “first animated live documentary variety program.” At the time of the project’s reveal, the booth that hosted the project held technology demonstrations featuring the project’s two characters.
