Ending Thoughts: Comic Girls

Posted in: Anime News

Synopsis

This is a tale that tells of the daily lives of four female high school mangaka living in a dormitory

General Impression

For the most part, the series gives what is expected with the whole cute girls do cute things set-up. The whole manga artist concept is something that isn’t touched on a lot without going a little overboard, so this is a nice change of pace. The way that the show manages to maintain a good balance between the story and character development is also a plus. On that note, the characters are the biggest highlight of the series.

They may start off as somewhat stereotypical given their looks, but the way that the series expands on their personalities is what makes things interesting. The dynamics that were formed between the characters were a delight to watch. And overall, the characters turned out to be cute and well-rounded characters. The only problem with the series is that it can get a little repetitive in the humor and largely predictable in development.

Ending Thoughts

As cute and sweet as the series, it was expected that there would be a touch of drama here or there. It’s rather light but it fits rather well with the flow of the story. Honestly, though, the ending of the series was by far one of the most predictable points of the series. Still, the journey in reaching this point was rather fun and all the characters had a good amount of development done for them.

Looking at the ending as a whole, it makes for a solid final arc to the series. Like the prior episodes, it sets a solid balance for the characters and overall does well with its tone and delivery. It’s the kind of satisfying ending you would expect from this series, it’s not all that big but the ending gave a satisfying note. The only bad point that could be said against it is that it could have given a peek at the other characters as well.

Conclusion

It’s a cute series which has sweet characters that have a great dynamic and an overall solid balance between character and plot development. There is a lot of predictable points with the series but the way the series expands on the characters makes up for it. The humor can get repetitive but the softer moments make up for it. Really, the bad points aren’t all that much given how there is something to back it up. This is the kind of series that you should watch on a downtime and enjoy for what it brings in terms of concept and characters.
