A collaboration is announced between anime studio Trigger and the game publisher Arc System Works via a teaser commercial during the broadcast of the DARLING in the FRANXX anime.

Titled as “Kill la Kill the Game: Ifu”, this will be the series’ first game and published in the “Kill la Kill Battle Action” genre by Aro System Works. To be developed by APLUS, the game is set to be released next year and will be meant for one to two players.

Staff and other details for the game have not been listed yet. However, it has been confirmed that further details would be released at the Anime Expo convention in Los Angeles starting July 6.

At 5:30 p.m. that day, Studio Trigger will be having an industry panel while Arc Systems Works will have their own booth at the convention. In addition to this, there will be a special appearance by the anime’s character designer Sushio and creative officer Hiromi Wakabayashi for the game.

Arc System Works is a video game developer and publisher best known for its fighting game series “Guilty Gear” and “BlazBlue”. As for Trigger, it’s most recent collaboration project was with A-1 Pictures on the “DARLING in the FRANXX television anime, which premiered in January.

“Kill la Kill” is a series that began in 2013 under the production of “Trigger”. It was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, the director behind “Gurren Lagann”. And had its series composition done by Kazuki Nakashima, who recently worked on the screenplay of the “Batman Ninja” film. The series ran for 24 episodes before ending in March 2014.

The story of the series features on Ryuuko Matoi. Following the murder of her father, she has made it her mission to search for the killer. With only the missing half of his invention, the Scissor Blade as her lead, she ends up at the prestigious Honnouji Academy, a high school unlike any other.

It is there that Ryuuko learns of “Goku Uniforms”, special clothes that grant the wearer unique superhuman abilities and are bestowed upon those at the top. After being defeated by one of the students with said uniform, Ryuuko retreats to her razed home where she stumbles across Senketsu, a rare and sentient “Kamui,” or God Clothes. She forms a contract with the being and now Ryuuko, armed with Senketsu and the Scissor Blade, makes a stand against the Elite Four, hoping to reach student council president Satsuki and uncover the culprit behind her father’s murder once and for all.
