A Collaboration Poster is Released for the Detective Conan and Gundam: The Origin Films

In celebration of the Japanese release of the last “Mobile Suit Gundam” anime and the latest “Detective Conan” film, a collaboration poster has been released featuring the characters of the two works.

The characters in the poster include Conan Edogawa and Tōru Amuro from “Detective Conan” as well as “Gundam” characters Amuro Ray and Char Aznable. Included with the featured characters are comments from “Detective Conan” creator Gosho Aoyama, “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin” chief director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, and voice actor Tohru Furuya.

The poster will be making its appearance on May 18 for the screening of the final “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin” film in some theaters. Starting on May 15 the official websites of both anime will be placing the poster on display for a limited time.

On another note, Aoyama, more than being the creator of “Detective Conan” is a fan of the “Gundam” franchise. In fact, he had named he character Tōru Amuro, whose real name is Rei Furuya, after Tohru Furuya and his “Gundam” character Amuro Ray. What’s more, Shuuichi Akai from “Detective Conan” is named after Char Aznable’s “Red Comet” nickname and his voice actor Shūichi Ikeda.

‘"Tanjō Akai Suisei"/“Rise of the Red Comet” is the sixth and last work for the “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin” anime. It is also the second installment in the “Chronicle of the Loum Battlefield” arc. The film first released on May 5 and had claimed #9 in the Japanese Box Office.

The episode featured Char’s younger sister Sayla, the Zeon pilot Ramba Ral and his lover Hamon, and Amuro and Fraw Bow. More than being the last episode for the “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin” anime, it is the last anime that Yoshikazu Yasuhiko will ever work on.

As for the “Detective Conan” film, it is titled “Meitantei Conan Zero no Shikkōnin” a.k.a. “Detective Conan: Zero’s Executioner” and is the 22nd film of the franchise. Currently, in its fourth week, the film remains at #1. The main features for the film included actress Aya Ueto, reappearing 12 years after her major role in the TV series, and comedian Daikichi Hakata who joins the cast for the first time.
