“BanG Dream!” will be making its return next year as the official Twitter account of the franchise announces two new seasons to be produced.

In addition to the new seasons, there were different announcements made on the franchise’s website. First, there is a collaboration with Sega’s new “Ongeki” music arcade game. Part of the collaboration is 3D models for the band members this summer. Then on July 7 is the 2nd Live concert for The Third /Kari at MyNavi Blitz Akasaka in Tokyo. Following this are two events in August.

On August 1 is the premiere of the live-action film of Atsuko Nanba’s Ao-Natsu romance manga which will feature an appearance of Kasumi Toyama voice actress Aimi. Coming on August 10 is the release of a “BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!” special pack for the “Weiß Schwarz” card game.

As for the new seasons, the second season is set for next January while the third season is set for October 2019. Prior to the reveal of the new seasons, a spin-off anime titled “Pastel Life” had already been greenlit. Featuring the band Pastel*Palettes, a release date is yet to be released.

It was in January 2017 that the “BanG Dream!” anime made its debut. The series ran for a total of 13 episodes before ending in April 2017. The series was directed by “To Love Ru: Darkness’” Atsushi Ootsuki and written by Yuniko Ayana who is currently working on “Lupin the Third Part V”. Now coming June 19, a home video of the first season will be released by Sentai Filmworks.

Originally, the series was a multimedia project that was launched in January 2015 by Bushiroad. Following this in February 2015, the company formed the Poppin’ Party band for the project. Other than Poppin’ Party, the project includes the bands Happy World!, Pastel*Palettes, Afterglow, Roselia, and most recently, an all-male band.

The story of the series takes focus on Kasumi Toyama. When she was young, she found a great thrill in star gazing and since then has been looking for something that would inspire the same feeling as she had as a child. Upon coming across a star-shaped guitar in a run-down pawnshop, she believes that she has found what she was looking for.

Now, Kasumi holds the dream of forming a band and reaching stardom. This results in her meeting with four like-minded souls: Saya, Arisa, Rimi, and Tae. Thus begins their musical journey.
