Former Studio Ghibli Production Coordinator Hirokatsu Kihara is Coming to Montreal’s Otakuthon!

The organizers of Otakuthon, a Montreal convention announced on Wednesday that they will be having Hirokatsu Kihara as a special guest this coming August 3 to 5. Kihara is the former Production Coordinator in the popular anime production studio, Studio Ghibli.

He has served behind Hayao Miyazaki as Production Coordinator for the following Studio Ghibli hits like Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, and Laputa: Castle in the Sky. He also worked in the following anime series as a production runner: Outbreak Company, Kanamemo, and My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO! to name a few.

Currently he is known as a writer for horror stories and is currently working on the film series Tales of Terror from Tokyo and All Over Japan. He also writes his own series of horror books as well.

Joining with Kihara as special guests for this bilingual anime convention are the following Japanese musical artists: Lia (Angel Beats), Shiena Nishizawa (Kancolle), and fhana (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid).
