Back in May 2017, a hiatus had been announced for the fantasy battle manga Noragami. Now after a year-long hiatus, the series is set to resume its serialization in the July 2018 issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine to be released in Japan on June 6.
It was in the June issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine that the hiatus was announced. The reason behind this hiatus was so that Adachitoka could recuperate from an illness. Prior to the announcement however, the manga’s 75th chapter was meant to appear in April 2017 but was pushed back due to “circumstances” according to the editorial staff.
Along with the confirmation of the manga’s return, it has also been confirmed that the long-awaited next 19th tankobon volume is scheduled to be released on August 17. To mark the return of the manga, “Noragami will be featured on the cover of the July 2018 issue.
“Noragami” began serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Magazine in January 2011’s issue. The series had reached its 18th tankōbon volume as of February 2017 and in 2011 had gained extra chapters that were compiled into one volume under the title “Noragami Shūishū”.
The anime adaptation of the series made its debut in January 2014. Spanning for a total of 12 episodes, the anime reached its end in March 2014. The series was directed by Kotaru Tamura, who majorly worked on storyboards of different series and films including “Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!” and “Wolf Children”.
Deko Akao, who recently worked on the “After the Rain” series was the series composer for the series. As for the character designs, that work can be credited to Toshihiro Kawamoto, the character designer behind “Cowboy Bebop”.
“Noragami” tells of a homeless god named Yato, he has no shrine and no followers, yet he aims to build himself the lavish temple of his dreams. To achieve his ambitious goals, he sets up a service to help those in need and hopefully with the fee he fines, he will eventually raise enough money to reach his goal. From finding lost kittens to helping a student overcome bullies at school, there’s no job he won’t refuse.
