Megalo Box has 3 More Cast/Characters Added to its List

The Ashita no Joe 50th anniversary project “Megalo Box” has just reached its fourth episode and now the Twitter account of the series has revealed three more cast/characters to add to its crew. In addition to the reveal of the new cast/characters, a new promo video featuring them is currently being streamed by TMS Entertainment.

Premiering on April 5, the series is set to have 13 episodes and a home video to be released in Japan with new anime shorts featured within. With main cast of the series, they include:

Yoshimasa Hosoya, the voice of Reiner Braun in “Attack on Titan” playing as protagonist Junk Dog a.k.a. Joe. An underground Megalo Boxer who takes on the name “Joe” when he has a Citizen ID forged to enter the Megalonia tournament, he is the counterpart of Joe Yabuki from the original “Ashita no Joe” series.

Hiroki Yasumoto, a voice actor known for his role in “Yuri!!! On Ice” as Christophe Giacometti voicing the counterpart of Tōru Rikiishi, Yuuri. He is described as Yukiko’s bodyguard and the former Megalo Boxing champion who has his Gear integrated into his arms. He is also the one to instigate Joe into rising the ranks to face him after defeating him in a match as retaliation for Joe’s insult to his owner.

Gansaku Nanbu being voiced by Shiro Saito, who played a role in “KADO – The Right Answer” as Kiyotaka Ubuka. He plays as Junk Dog’s manager and a gambler with a drinking problem.

Nanako Mori, who currently plays a role in “Jikken-hin Kazoku: Creatures Family Days” as Aisley, taking on the role of Yukiko Shirator, the head of the Shirato Group who oversees the Megalonia tournament.

The voice actor behind Sucy Manbavaran in “Little Witch Academia”, Michiyo Murase as Sachio, a young boy from the impoverished Restricted Area who is talented with using and fixing machinery

Hiroyuki Kinoshita, the voice of Ikuya Ogura in “Ajin”, as Fujimaki, a mob boss that sets up fixed fights for Junk Dog and Nanbu. In order for Nanbu to pay him back with the prize money after Junk Dog refuses to throw a fight, he assists the duo in acquiring a forged Citizen ID so they can enter Megalonia

Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Mikio Shirato

Makoto Tamura as Aragaki

Youhei Tadano as Miyagi

The story of the series begins with Junk Dog a.k.a. Joe, being a Megalo Boxer who participates in fixed boxing matches in an underground ring to live. Everything changes for him however when he ends up facing against former Megalo Boxing champion, Yuuri.

With the opening and ending theme of the series, the opening, “Bite” is performed by Leo Imai while the ending “Kakatte koi yo” is performed by Emi Nakamura.

Recently in the March issue of Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge magazine on February 17, a manga adaptation was created by Chikata Sakuma.
