Ultraman R/B Presents Fire and Water Brothers this July

Posted in: Anime News

Coming this July, Tsuburaya Productions long-running “Ultra” series of tokusatsu action TV shows gains a new entry to it’s line-up with “Ultraman R/B.” Featured in this latest entry is a pair of brothers as lead heroes with elemental powers.

The brothers are named Katsumi and Isami Minato. They live with their younger sister and father who run a specialty store. One day they discover the R/B Gyro and R/B Crystal and end up being transformed into a pair of Ultraman. With the element of fire, Katumi is transformed into “Ultraman Rosso” while his brother Isami gains the element of water and transforms into “Ultraman Blu”.

Playing the role of elder brother Katsumi is Yuya Hirata. His character is a college student who works as a clerk in his father’s specialty shop. He is described to have an attention for fashion, a critical thinking ability but is rather hot blooded and tends to lose sense of his surroundings when playing baseball.

Taking on the role of younger brother Isami is Ryosuke Koike. He’s 19-year-old and a student of space archaeology college. Though he is described as a free-spirited youth, he also has a rather clumsy attitude and is incapable of expressing his gratitude on others. What’s more, he much prefers conduction interesting researches rather than help out at his father’s store.

Outside of the lead pair and their elemental transformations, the series also takes on the bond between the two brothers as they face different powerful enemies and mature from them. For while they may butt heads, they work together in battle.

Directing the upcoming series is Masayoshi Takei. Charged with the writing for the series is Takao Nakano. As for the screenplay work, that will be taken on by Takao Nakano, Jyunki Takegami and Satoshi Ito.

“Ultraman R/B” is the 30th entry of the “Ultraman” franchise. Being that it brings in the new factor of a hero pair, the series is considered a part of the “New Generation Hero” trend which aired on TV Tokyo since the start of “Ultraman Ginga”. As stated, the series is set to air in July; it is slotted for Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. and will have 25 episodes.
