New Cast Members are Introduced for the Upcoming Cells at Work Anime

More on the upcoming “Cells at Work!” anime adaptation is revealed as the June issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine lists four new cast/characters for the work.

It was in January that the anime adaptation had been first revealed and at the time a full staff had been confirmed for the production. Acting as director is Kenichi Suzuki, the director behind, “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures.” Yuuko Kakihara, who previously worked on the “Kamichama Karin” shoujo series, takes on the role of series composer for the adaptation. Credited as the character designer and chief animation director for the series is Takahiko Yoshido, who previously worked the same roles for “The Big Windup!”

With him as the cell character designer, prop designer, and animation scene animation director is Kenta Mimoru, a key animator from the “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” series. Charged with the sub-character designs is Keiko Tamaki. As for the music composition of the series, that will be taken on by “Comic Girls” composer, Kenichiro Suehiro.

The story of the series takes focus on the workings of the human body and how around 60 trillion cells are at work. From injuries to allergic reactions, the deadly white blood cells to the brainy neurons have to work together to get through the crisis.

Following the reveal of the anime adaptation, the main cast had been revealed for the series and they include:

Kana Hanazawa as Red Blood Cell (Erythrocite)

Tomoaki Maeno as White Blood Cell (Neutrophil)

Kikuko Inoue as Macrophage

Daisuke Ono as Killer T Cell

Maria Naganawa as Platelet

The new cast/characters include Takahiro Sakurai, the voice behind Osomatsu in “Mr. Osomatsu” playing the role of Helper T Cell (T Lymphocyte). Regulatory T Cell to be played by Saori Hayami, known for her role in “Snow White with the Red Hair” as Shirayuki. The voice behind Fana in “Black Clover”, M.A.O plays the role of Eosinophil. And lastly Nobuhiko Okamoto, who previously voiced as Rin Okumura in “Blue Exorcist”, plays as Dendritic Cell.

Set to premiere in July, the anime was adapted from Akane Shimizu’s manga series of the same name. It was in March 2015 that the manga has made its release and has been serialized by Kodansha’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius since then. Most recently the series has had its fifth volume shipped by Kodansha Comics last November.
