On April 19, Sankaku Head’s sequel manga, “Himōto! Umaru-chan G” had reached its end. Now it has been announced by that Shueisha’s Jump J Books novel label official Twitter that the “Himouto! Umaru-chan” manga has inspired a second novel titled “Himouto! Umaru-chan N2.”
Set to be released on June 19, the novel will be shipped along with the compiled volume for the “Himouto! Umaru-chan G” sequel manga.
It was in August 2015 that the first novel “Himouto! Umaru-chan N” was published by Shueisha and it compiled stories featuring Umaru, Kirie, and Sylphynford. Other than this the manga has also inspired the “Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan”, “Himōto! Umaru-chan S”, and “Himōto! Umaru-chan SS” spinoff manga, as well as the “Himōto! Umaru-chan F: Himōto Enikki” fanbook.
The original manga series had its start on March 14, 2013 in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump. The series spanned to around 12 volumes before ending in November 9, 2017. The sequel of the manga made its debut in November 2017 and as stated had just ended days ago in this year’s 19th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump.
An anime adaptation of the series was released in July 2015 and spanned for a total of 12 episodes before ending in September 2015. It was directed by Masahiko Ohta and written by Takashima Aoshima.
Following after this adaptation, a second season of the series titled “Himouto! Umaru-chan R” was released from October to December 2017. Outside of the anime and manga adaptations, there was video game adaptation for the PlayStation Vita released on December 3, 2015.
The story of the series tells of a high school girl named Umaru Doma. On the outside, she portrays the perfect student, hard-working, refined, and totally responsible. The truth however, is far from this image.
As the minute she heads home to her older brother Taihei, she undergoes a completely transformation. The moment she dons her famous hamster hoodie she becomes the ultimate bratty little sister who is more than happy to simply roll around all day in an otaku cloud of games and junk food while her exhausted older brother takes care of everything in the house.
