Osamu Tezuka’s ‘Metropolis’ Anime Film to have Blu-Ray Disc Release

The 2001 anime film Metropolis which is directed by Rintaro with script by Katsuhiro Otomo, will have a June 5 Blu-ray Disc release to by the home video distribution company Mill Creek Entertainment. The Blu-ray Disc is listed on Amazon.

Based on the manga of the same name by anime and manga legend Osamu Tezuka, Metropolis follows a boy named Kenichi and his uncle Detective Shunsaku as they leave for Japan to visit the giant city of Metropolis to investigate the human rights-related crimes of Dr. Laughton. Along the way, Kenichi suddenly meets a mysterious girl named Tima in which she was being haunted by Duke Red for a deeper purpose.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the film for Blu-ray last February. Another company called Eureka also did a DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of the film last January 2017 for the UK region.
