Previously, it has been reported that there would be a Chinese dub of the series to be released two hours after the Japanese broadcast on Saturday. And recently FUNimation Entertainment has begun offering simultaneous English dubs for the first few episodes of some of its simulcast anime.
“Detective Conan”, officially known as “Case Closed” due to legal considerations with the name made its start as a 1994 manga series created by Gosho Aoyama. Serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine, the series as of December 2017 reached 94 tankobon volumes.
The anime adaptation of the series made its debut in January 2016 under the production of Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and TMS Entertainment. From the anime, “Case Closed” had expanded into a media franchise consisting of animated feature films, original video animations, video games, audio disc releases and live action episodes. Also included in the franchise was a television special that released in 2009 titled, “Lupin the 3rd vs. Detective Conan” and featuring characters from “Lupin III.”
The story of the series tells of Shinichi Kudo, a high school student who has made himself known as an amateur detective. One day during an investigation, he is attacked by a mysterious organization and is made to ingest an experimental poison which turned him into a child.
Adopting the name of Conan Edogawa, he ends up living with his childhood friend/love interest Ran Mouri. While keeping his identity a secret he solves a multitude of cases while impersonating his friend’s father and other characters.
