Fans will now be able to read the story of Portgas D. Ace in one shot as the “One Piece Novel A” trilogy is compiled into a single volume to be released today. Once again it will be handled by Shou Hinata.
For those who are not familiar, “One Piece Novel A” is an official novel that was written into three volumes in the One Piece Magazine. It featured the tale of protagonist Luffy’s brother, Portgas D. Ace and the beginning of his adventures before meeting Whitebeard.
The full story begins with Ace and an unnamed man being stranded together on the East Blue island of Sixis. Ace nicknames the man as Masked Deuce and while the two had a rocky start the two become friends. And in the aftermath of him of him eating the Mera Mera no Mi a.k.a. The Flame-Flame Fruit, they build a ship to escape, forming the beginning of the Spade Pirates.
In the course of the two’s voyage, the Spade Pirates grow in infamy and encounter Marine Ensign Isuka. She, after being saved by Ace, repeatedly pursues them in order to persuade Ace away from the pirate life in vain. When things escalate with him being offered the position of Shichibukai and him refusing it results in him unlocking the ability to use Busoshoku Haki. In the end the Spade Pirates part ways and Ace sets off to take on Whitebeard.
The first volume of the tale was released in July 2017 while the second and third volume was released August 2017 and September 2017 respectively.
“One Piece” is an iconic shounen series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda and has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997. Featuring the tale of a young man named Monkey D. Luffy and his voyage to becoming Pirate King, the series has received much praise for its storytelling, art, characterization, and humor over the years.
It set a Guinness World Record for “the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author.” And it had become the best-selling manga series in history in October 2017 when the manga sold over 430 million copies worldwide. Currently the series has become the best-selling manga for the tenth consecutive year in 2017.
