“HUNTER X HUNTER” has entered into another hiatus starting in the 19th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine to be released on April 9.

Announced in the 18th edition of the magazine, a comment from the author was posted in the issue. It conveyed Togashi’s apology for the hiatus and how he’ll be working hard to be able to return to the series as soon as possible.

In his author’s comment in the issue, Togashi apologized for going on hiatus again, and said he’ll work hard to be able to return as soon as possible.

As stated, this is not the first time that the series had entered a hiatus. The last time that the series had gone into hiatus was in September. At the time, Togashi had announced that that he planned to resume the series before the end of the year but instead the series had resumed on January 29 in this year’s ninth issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.

Currently, the series has a total of 35 compiled books volumes with Shueisha having released the latest volume on February 2.

It was in March 1998 that the shounen series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi was released in the Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine and journal. Though the series has gone through frequent and extended hiatuses since 2006, the series has become a popular work within the anime/manga verse.

The anime adaptation of the series made its debut in 1999 with Nippon Animation as its producer. The anime had two seasons, three separate OVAs (original video animations) and two films.

More than the anime and manga, the series had audio albums, video games, musicals, and other media based on it. As of 2014, the series had become one of Shueisha’s best-selling manga series, having sold 66 million copies in Japan alone

“HUNTER X HUNTER” tells the tale of Gon Freecss, a young boy who discovers that his father, who he was told was dead, is in fact alive and a world-renowned Hunter. A Hunter is a licensed profession for those who do work in various fantastical tasks including locating rare or unidentified animal species, treasure hunting, surveying unexplored enclaves, or hunting down lawless individuals.

With the knowledge of his father being alive, Gon makes the decision to become a Hunter himself and sets off to take the Hunter Examination in his path to search for his father. In his journey he comes across other Hunters and enters the world of paranormal phenomena.
