General Impression: Takunomi

Synopsis

Michiru Amatsuki has just moved into Tokyo to pursue a new career. Along with her move she had made the decision to live in a women-only share house named “Stella House Haruno.” It’s here that she meets women of different ages and occupations and begins a bond with them over beer and other drinks.

First Impression

The notable point of the episode lies in the moment that Michiru has drinks with the rest of her housemates. Generally, the art and animation is good, but with the drinks and food, it just goes another layer, which makes sense given the theme of the series. With the characters, the protagonist is pretty charming in her own way, but the other characters don’t really have many notable qualities other than to add to the introduction to the series. Other than this, the issues are small, and the potential is high.

General Impression

As the series progressed, it showed a good deal of relatable qualities with the characters and worked their bonding moments rather well. The way that the series tackles on the concepts of relaxing and finding ways to enjoy life through simple things makes it rather endearing. It would have been even better if there was focus placed on that idea rather than on the clear product placement of the alcoholic beverages and what could be done with them.

It’s understandable that it’s one of the main concept of the series but the series could have gone without the processing details and instead focused on how it can be enjoyed. Maybe that’s a bit of a stretch but outside of this, the issues are mainly with the bits of fanservice work and the way that it banks some of its comedy work on Michiru’s ideals over Tokyo and the people.

Conclusion

Outside of the product placement, the character work and the misses in comedy, the series presents a solid relatability with its characters. What’s more it has commendable presentation in themes regarding handling stress and enjoying the simpler things connected to drinking. Smaller issues with the series are mainly with the character work and the opening and ending themes so for the most part, the series does an overall decent job. On a different and final note, the series may not be the greatest, but it has some good qualities in how it deals with the characters emotionally and in the presentation of the drinks and food.
