New Areas are Presented for Code Vein

New areas and features were revealed for “Code Vein” by Bandai Namco at the Taipei Game Show.

The newly revealed area for the game is named as “The City That Rains Fire” and is revealed through game footage. Presented by Producer Keita Iizuka and Director Yuzuke, the area is described to hold “fire hazards and magma zones that can sap away players’ health quickly with improper positioning.” Other than this area, the duo also introduced what is called “The ridge of Frozen Souls.

In the game footage released with the new details, it features the protagonist handling a a two-handed sword and the “Hounds” Blood Veil in its first half. For a longer range, the developers recommend the use of the Halberd and the Stinger Blood Veil with Rui as a companion when traversing the new area. As an added bonus a mid-boss was shown towards the end of the video.

In previous reports, details were revealed on the different characters, story other features to be found in the game including battle sequences and a mysterious fruit. With the characters, there is the Revenant Jack Rutherford, he was described as a Revenant Hunter feared by both enemies and allies. He will be voiced by Junichi Suwabe.

Another character is a female Revenant named Eva Roux, she is said be indebted to Jack for saving her life and is in opposition of the protagonist. She is to be voiced by Saori Hayami. The most recent character to be introduced for the game is Nikola Karnstein, who will be voiced by Hiromi Igarashi.

Her character is described to the younger sister of another character named Mia and is willing to stand against anyone for Mia. However, it is noted that Mia’s official profile holds a detail of a younger brother and not sister, but the character’s details are yet to be fully confirmed.

“Code Vein” is an upcoming action role-playing video game set for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. First announced in April 2017, the game is set to be released this year. In terms of general gameplay, it may be compared to the “Dark Souls” series and is placed in the third-person perspective. With the plot, it takes place post-apocalyptic dystopia caused by a mysterious disaster and resulting in once towering skyscrapers that were symbols of peace to be nothing, but ruins pierced by the Thorns of Judgement.

Hidden in the center of this land of destruction lies a secret society of Revenants called Vein. With “Gifts” of power gained with the exchange of memories and resulting in a thirst for blood, the remaining few of the destruction fight to survive.
