Since its release, “Monster Hunter” has grown into a game of strategy and exploration which has resulted in a rather demanding game for many. With the new “Monster Hunter: World” game though, newly released features present a more beginner friendly aspect of the game.
For one thing, the tracking of the game handled better as there is evidence of a monster to be found when a player looks around a location. From scales to foot prints and even marks left on trees, players can follow all of these clues and gain information on the monsters along the way. For each information and item collected along the way, the accumulated data increase research levels for each monster tracked and reported back to the researchers in Astera upon return. As an added bonus, players will find that with every item collected, they will receive not only information but also ways on how it can be used.
For those who are unsure on which areas to go to get what they want, they can make use of the wishlist. The wishlist can be accessed when players head to the blacksmith and mark down items that they are not able to achieve without certain items. When they do receive the items required however, players receive an alert.
Another helping hand of a feature in the game are scoutflies. With these companions, they help alert players to items in the vicinity and help find the way to specific items and monsters. When players are not tracking a specific item or monster, the scoutflies simply hover around a point of interest.
With the open world element, players have more to find when going on expeditions and collecting parts for equipment or general crafting. When on expeditions, players can open up a map from Astera and go to any location that they have already unlocked and any camp they have already set up. Upon reaching a map, players can head out to the area and look for ingredients, fight random smaller monsters or track down one of the bigger monsters in the area.
For those who are looking for new items, there is the Ghillie Mantle to be gained from hunting the Tobi-Kadachi for the first time. With this item players can temporarily hide from view unless they either attack or are attacked. A final new feature to enjoy with the game is the easiness in gaining help from allies, specifically the Palicos.
The game is already available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will receive a PC version in Fall 2018.
