The game itself is based on the visual novel turned anime/manga, “Uta no Prince-sama.” First released in June 2010 as a Japanese visual novel aimed towards females, it featured players taking on the role of aspiring composer Haruka Nanami and holds seven different routes affected by their choices.

It was in July 2011 that the anime adaptation first came out. The series spanned for a total of four seasons and each one had a total of 13 episodes.

The plot for the franchise takes focus on Haruka Nanami, an aspiring composer who dreams of composing for her favorite idol. In order to achieve this dream, she enters in Saotome Academy, a prestigious performing arts school, where upon graduation, has a chance of working in the Shining Agency. The path towards this dream is far from easy however as the school is already filled with potential idols and composers. What’s more, just before graduation students pair up in order to perform a song that was both composed, written and sung by them and this choice is far from easy for Haruka as she meets seven interesting classmates/schoolmates.
