More cast and theme song artists have been confirmed for the anime adaptation of “Fist of the Blue Sky Regenesis” in the March issue of Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Comic Zenon magazine.
Previously, it was announced that Kouichi Yamadera, who previously starred in the 2006 “Fist of the Blue Sky” anime, would be returning for the lead role of Kenshiro Kasumi in the new anime.
Other than this lead cast announcement, the staff for the series had already been confirmed and include, Yoshio Kazumi who previously worked as a unit and CGI director, as the director for the series. He will be working at Polygon Pictures along with script supervisor and writer, Satoshi Ozaki. Taking charge of the character designs of the series are Hiromi Satou and Kazuma Teshigahara.
In the newly announced details for the series, performing the opening theme, “Sōten no Hate ni"/”To the Ends of the Blue Sky” is artist AK-69. The ending theme on the other hand will be performed by Uesaka and is titled “"Inori no Hoshizora" (Starry Night of Prayer).
As for the newly revealed cast, they include, Takehito Koyasu, who is currently playing the role of Claudia Hodgins in “Violet Evergarden” as Liú Fēi-Yàn.
Sumire Uesaka, the voice behind Shalltear Bloodfallen in “Overlord” as Erika Arendt.
Then there is Setsuji Satoh, who played the role of Joseph Yaht in “Turn a Gundam”, to play as Yasaka.
And lastly, Yumi Touma, the voice of Hijiri Kirishima in “Air” to play as Pān Yù-Líng.
Set just before WWII, this is the story of a quiet, absent-minded professor named Kasumi Kenshiro. Behind this literature professor at a small women’s college in Tokyo however, lies the once 62nd Grand Master of Hokuto Shinken, "God Fist of the North Star.”
Also known as Yan Wang, or “the King of Death” he had protected the peace in the “City of Devils” and now he fights against thugs and drug dealers. Kasumi had hoped to find anonymity and a quiet life, but with the tragedy of his lover, and former brothers’ deaths, he makes his way back to Shanghai to fulfill his destiny and seek vengeance for his lost loved ones.
The anime will be making its debut in April and will be aired on Tokyo MX and other channels, as well as exclusively on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service.
“Fist of the Blue Sky” was a shounen manga series written and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara and serialized by Weekly Comic Bunch from 2001 to 2010. The series ran for a total of 22 volumes and is a prequel series to “Fist of the North Star, which Hara originally illustrated with Buronson writing and was released in the 1980’s.
A new manga for the franchise will be released by Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Comic Zenon magazine in October and is titled “Souten no Ken Re: Genesis” with Hara is credited with the original work, Hiroyuki Yatsu as the writer and Hideki Tsuji as the illustrator
