The series will be making its debut in April and will be aired by NTV with a streaming on Hulu and other services. As for the story of the new series, all is known is that Lupin III will be traveling to France, the home of his grandfather and namesake, Arsene Lupin.

It was last year at the Japan Expo in Paris that TMS and Telecom Animation Film announced the new series for the franchise. With the previous anime series of the franchise, “Lupin III: Part IV”, it was released in October 2015 and featured not only Lupin as the star after three decades but also has the iconic thief in his 20’s and taking on Italy and San Morino.

Serialized by Weekly Manga Action, the first series of the manga ran for around 14 episodes. The first anime series of the franchise was released in October 1971. In the time of the manga and anime’s release, “Lupin III” has grown into a media franchise including numerous manga, two versions of an animated pilot film, five animated television series, eight animated films, two live-action films, five OVA works, twenty-six specials, two musicals, multiple music CDs, and several video games.

Lupin III, fully known as Arsène Lupin III and the grandson of Arsène Lupin is the star of this story. Recognized as the world’s greatest thief he has made himself known for releasing a calling card announcing his intentions to steal valuable objects. This is the story of his various escapades and his evasion of the authorities.
