More is revealed for the expanded version the “Great Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo” game which is simply known “Detective Pikachu” for Nintendo 3DS as a new trailer is released along with a Western announcement and new amiibo figure by the Pokemon Company.

The new amiibo figure of the coffee-drinking, hard boiled Pikachu is said to be in the works and is set to be larger than the average amiibo. In terms of its features in the game, it can unlock short videos that just might help you out with some useful hints for your investigation.

Set to be released in North America and Europe on March 23, 2018, “Detective Pikachu” will be supporting English and Japanese voicing with French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Chinese subtitles. In the game, the player is given the role of Tim Goodman, a young boy who encounters the talkative Detective Pikachu. Together the two set off on adventures, looking for clues, talking to witnesses and generally solving mysteries in Ryme City.

It was in October 2013 that it was revealed that plans were being made for the development of “Detective Pikachu.” The announcement was made at an episode of the Japanese television show “The Professionals” as part of a profile on The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara. In the same year, a trademark was made for the name “Great Detective Pikachu” by Nintendo. Then in January 2016 was when the developers had released the debut trailer for the game a week before its launch.

On February 3, 2016, “Great Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo” was released on Nintendo 3DS eShop in Japan. When an English version of the game was in the making, fans had created a petition for American actor Danny DeVito to play as the deep voiced character. However, even after the petition had gained 40, 000 signatures, the actor had refused to audition for the role.

On a different note, a film adaptation of the game was announced in 2016 and is set to be released in May 2019. Featured in the film is Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds playing as the main Pokemon himself.
