Synopsis
Minoa Asagaya was just a normal girl starting off her first year of high school. One day as she tells her friend that she is looking for an anime that she believe that she saw as a child and catches the attention of class rich girl and anime/manga Arisu Kamiigusa. Though a novice on anime, Minoa is the one to make the suggestion in reforming the anime club in interest of discussing more with Arisu. But while this goes on, something much bigger seems to be on the rise.
First Impression
For the most part the episode held a rather standard start though it was nice that it didn’t turn out as wacky as its premise made itself out to be. The art is not all that big of a stand out but it does well for the general tone of the episode. It is towards the end of the episode though that things really pick up and shows the highlight for the work, which is the foreshadowing. With most series the foreshadowing either takes place during the middle of the series or is very subtle when done in the beginning. The fact that the foreshadowing of the episode is obvious makes for an interesting point in the series. In addition to all this there is also the fantasy/mystery aspect to consider especially with the talking cat so there is that plus.
General Impression
As the series progressed, you can’t but notice that while there is work done over the plot and the comedy, it seems as if there is little no character development. This in turn makes the characters more like figures for the series than anything else. Sure, the shows gives coverage gives whole range of interesting coverage over the different perceptions of and on otakus. It’s pretty clear that the series is not for everyone but for the most part there is some good humor and decent amount of concept exploration. Outside of the lacklustre character development and amount of references in the series though, there are a lot of fun moments to be found in the general story as simple as it is.
Conclusion
Again, this series is not for everyone, but it is a good amount of fun for long time anime viewers or even manga readers. Sure the character work is not all that great but the way that the plot was worked around the characters made up for most of it. And with it being a comedy it only made sense that there would be a bit mre focus on that aspect. Still outisde of its fun aspects, there isn’t much to expect in terms of development. For the most it just seems like a show to check out if you want to have a good laugh with not much plot.
