The Second Half of Osomatsu-san 2 Sets Itself for January

While the second season of comedy series, “Osomatsu-san” runs its course, an announcement has been made on its official website. It has been confirmed as of Monday that the series will be having its second cour in January.

The season made its debut on October 3 and currently has 7 episodes released. It continues the general story of the franchise with the sextuplet brothers Osomatsu, Karamatsu, Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu and Todomatsu spending daily adventures as lazy NEETs.

To mark the announcement of the second cour, the official website also revealed the contents of the Blu-ray Disc/DVD volumes of the second season. In the second volume there will be the first of four new short episodes. Then for the fourth, sixth, and eighth Blu-ray Disc/DVD volumes of the second season, it will be including the second, third, and fourth new short episodes respectively. They will be released on January 26, March 30, May 25, and July 27, respectively.

“Osomatsu-san” is a sequel work to the manga comedy series “Osomatsu-kun” which was created in 1962 by Fujio Akatsuka and ran in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine. It told of the mischievous adventures of the sextuplets when they were still children and ran for 34 volumes. The anime adaptation sequel later came in 2015 and premiered in October. The series ran for a total of 25 episodes. Followed after were three specials.
For the current season, Yoichi Fojita, who previously worked as the director of the first season, continues on his role. Along with him is character designer Naoyuki Asano and both are working at Studio Pierrot with other returning staff members including series script supervisor and scriptwriter Shuu Matsubara. The same goes for the main voice cast who comprise of:

Takahiro Sakurai as Osomatsu
Yuichi Nakamura as Karamatsu
Kamiya Hiroshi as Choromatsu
Jun Fukuyama as Ichimatsu
Ono Daisuke as Jyushimatsu
Irino Miyu as Todomatsu

With the opening and ending theme of the series, they are performed by AŌP and ROOTS66 respectively. The ending theme is titled “Let’s Go! Muttsugo! 6-iro no Niji” (Let’s go! Sextuplets! Six-Color Rainbow) and was performed with the voice cast.
