Summer 2018 Brings a New Series for the Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club Anime

“Free! Iwatobi Swim Club” will officially be expanding in the following year. On Monday the anime franchise has announced that for the next summer, a new series will be released promotional plans are already going underway.

With the initial Blu-ray Discs and DVDs for both the “Free! Timeless Medley: Kizuna” and “Free! Timeless Medley: Yakusoku” films, people will have a chance to attend the new anime’s unaired “episode 0” screening events. Because, there will be an attachment of application forms for priority sales tickets to the event screenings for those who are able to get it. Any other details on the event screenings will be released on a later date on the official website. For those who wish to get the film’s home video release, they can do so on Wednesday and December 6 respectively.

It was with the advance screening of “Free! Take Your Marks” at the “3rd KyoAni & Do Thanks Event” on October 21 that a hint of a new series was revealed. As towards the end of the film, it has screened a message of “See You Next Stage.” Now the film is currently showing a teaser illustration for the new series. For further promotional work, from October 30 to November 5, there will be an advertising billboard truck that will be travelling through the streets of Tokyo’s Ikebukuro, Shibuya, and Shinjuku districts.

It was in July 2013 that “Free! Iwatobi Swim Club” was first aired under the production of Kyoto Animation. The series ran for a total of 12 episodes before ending in September 2013. During its run in July, a light novel of the series had been made with Kouji Ouji as its writer and Futoshi Nishiya its illustrator with a total of 2 volumes.

The second season of the series which was titled, “Free! Eternal Summer” released in July 2014 and lasted until September 24 with 13 episodes. Followed after this in March 2015 was an original video animation (OVA) then in December 2015, a film entitled “High Speed! Free! Starting Days” was launched.

With the mentioned compilation films, they were released on April 22 and July 1 respectively while their sequel launched on Saturday
