The popular supernatural series, “Mob Psycho 100” has officially gained a live action series set for January 2018. Falling under TV Tokyo, a cast and staff has already been confirmed for the production.
The series will be airing on TV Tokyo’s “Mokudora 25” midnight block every Thursday (effectively every Friday morning) at 1:00-1:30 AM and currently has 1 cast and three staff members. Acting as the powerful psychic Mob himself is 17-year-old Tatsuomi Hamada.
Mainly recognized as Riku Asakura/Ultraman Geed, the star of the latest Ultraman TV series “Ultraman Geed”, Hamada will be working with 47-year-old internationally acclaimed action/tokusatsu director Koichi Sakamoto, the director of the production as well as one of the episode directors of the “Ultraman Geed” series.
As for the other members of the staff, there are Reiko Yoshida, the screenplay writers of the “Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike” film, and Kei Kunii, the screenplay writer of the 2001 live-action film “Princess Blade”, as the screenplay writers of the production.
“Mob Psycho 100” is an action supernatural webmanga created by ONE, the same person behind the popular action comedy series, “One Punch Man.” Published by Ura Sunday on April 18, 2012, the series currently has 14 volumes and had released an anime adaptation in July 2016 by Bones. The anime had ended in September 2016 and had a total of 12 episodes under the directing work of Yuzuru Takishara and was written by Hiroshi Seko.
The story of the series tells of a young boy by the name of Shigeo Kageyama a.k.a. Mob. While plain looking on the outside, he is actually a highly powerful psychic with the ability to destroy spirits with one hit. Thinking his powers unecessary in life, he locks away his emotions and seeks the help of a self-proclaimed psychic who has his own spirit counsel in training his abilities.
However things are not as simple of keeping control of his powers as trouble seems to pull him further in. As his emotions further grows, little by little he loses control and his powers threatens to break through.
