Starting off as a manga series in 2012 then an anime series in 2016, “Rainbow Days” a.k.a. “Njiro Days” now has a live action film confirmed. With an official website and Twitter opened as of Tuesday, details from the film’s premiere to its cast and staff have already been revealed.
The main story of Nijiro Days tells of a romantic tale involving four different characters and their friendship. Specifically this is the love story of a young man named Natsuki and his crush on a young girl named Anna while their other friends decide to meddle with their relationship. For the rest of the story is the growth of the characters and their love stories.
Directing the film is Ken Iizuka, who previously directed the live adaptation of the comedy series, “Arakawa under the Bridge.” With him as the screenplay writer of the film is Rika Nezu, who previously worked on “Saint Young Men” and both will be working on the film’s production from mid October to November. The film has already slated a premiere time and it is in the summer of 2018.
Starting from left to right, Mahiro Takasugi, who played the role of Kazuomi Ooga in the live-action work of “ReLIFE”, will be taking on the role of the smart otaku Tsuyoshi Naoe. Playing the role of the hopeless romantic and main protagonist Natsuki Hashiba is Reo Sano, of the band GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE.
For the role of the playboy Tomoya Matsunaga is Taishi Nakagawa, who played as Routan Watari in the live-action adaptation film of “Your Lie in April.” Lastly is Ryusei Yokohama, who played the role of Takeru Hibiya in the “Wolf Girl and Black Prince” live-action film, will be playing the role of the supposedly cheerful Keeichi Katakura.
The manga series, which was written and illustrated by Minami Mizuno was first released in February 2012 and is under the publication of Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret magazine. Spanning at 15 volumes before ending in March 2017, it was in January 2016, that the anime adaptation of the series was released. It ran for 24 episodes before ending in June and was streamed by Funimation.
