The ‘Sayuki’ Manga Series is Getting a New Stage Musical Next Year!

It was revealed on Sunday during an event for the Saiyuki stage musicals that a new stage musical is set to run in Fall 2018. The title of this upcoming musical will be Saiyuki Kagaki-den –Ibun-. It is set 400 years before the manga’s main story and in a priest training temple called Taisoji, the greatest in Shangri-La.

Kaori Miura will once again write the script and direct this upcoming musical stage production. Both Mitsuru Karahashi and Shun Mikami will be reprising their roles of Ukoku Sanzo and Komyo Sanzo respectively.

Saiyuki Kageki-den –Reload- was the franchise’s recent musical production which first ran on September 2015. It had other musical production previously that began in 2008.
