Character Details and More Are Revealed for Atelier Lydie & Suelle

Posted in: Anime News

A look at older versions of Firis and Illmeria along with further details on them and the twins’ father Roger are revealed for “Atelier Lydie & Suelle: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting.” Koei Tecmo also revealed further details on the gameplay and other features of the upcoming RPG game.

The game will be making it’s released in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch on December 21, 2017 then will be followed by a released in North America, Europe, and Asia in 2018 along with a PC release.

For the characters, Firis Mislud, who will be voiced by Kaede Hondo is a 19-year-old alchemist/traveler who loves travelling more than anyone. In her growth she has become taller, looking more like an adult and has improved much on alchemy skills to the point of having a flourishing atelier in Merveille. In addition to this she also learned how to use a bow from her older sister Liane. Still, she remains as a friendly personality though and is still easy to get along with.

Sayaka Kaneko’s character, Ilmeria Von Leinweber on the other hand, is a 19-year-old alchemist with a talent about equal to Firis’ and a way of not being straightforward and at times a meddler. While she ended up being somewhat being forced into becoming Lydia and Suelle’s master, her caring nature and the enthusiasm from the twins made her into a reliable teacher.

As for the twins’ father who will be voiced by Takehito Koyasu, Roger Marlen is a frank and wasteful 35-year-old alchemist/painter. While having little talent for alchemy he shows great promise as a painter. With his less than stellar personality, not only is he often called a “no good father” by his own daughters but he also holds a bit of a mad scientist side to him and often creates new recipes which result in explosives failures

The main story of the game tells of Lydia and Suelle’s dream of making their atelier one of the best of not the best in the country. But in order to reach their goal, they to increase their “Atelier Rank,” and undergo a set of trials from the kingdom. Prior to taking these trials however, they need to increase the atelier’s reputation. The player will be making use of Suelle’s Ambition Notebook to fulfill this task as it is filled with them.

Once you complete enough tasks, the player will be ranked up and open to taking on a trial which will unlock the new “Mysterious Painting” worlds. In each of these worlds there lies different alchemy items the player use to synthesize and increase rank.

Regarding the gameplay, the player will be making use of  parties that consist of up to three teams of two with each pair having a frontline and backline character. Depending on the player’s choice in character turn actions, the order of character turns won’t always be the same. On the other hand there is also defense system which the player can use.

With the “Support Guard” players can have Lydie and Suelle take less damage by having other characters take the hit. Another battle tactic implemented into the game is called the “Follow Skill”  system. It will be activated by the backline character when the frontline partner meets certain conditions such as using “Battle Max” for synthesizing items.

On the note of synthesizing, players can now synthesize mid-battle with the use of “Battle Recipes” and have a chance of receiving battle exclusive items. The final gameplay feature noted is called the “Combination Arts.” Players, can activate this when a specific combination is used by the front and backline characters but no details are confirmed yet.
