The minion side of things is revealed in the latest “Mario & Luigi: The Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions” game trailer. Spanning for 2-minutes the video presents the aftermath of Bowser’s separation from Mario, Luigi and his underlings.
“Mario & Luigi: The Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions” is combination of two games and is set to be released October 6, 2017 for Nintendo 3DS. “Mario & Luigi: The Superstar Saga” first released as a RPG game for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. Here the player is set in the Mushroom Kingdom in the beginning before progressing to the Beanbean Kingdom for the majority of the game.
The main quest of the game has Mario and Luigi going up against Cackletta, the main antagonist who along with her assistant Fawful, stole Princess Peach’s voice through the guise of an ambassador of the Beanbean Kingdom. What made this game unique from most RPG games at the time was the ability to simultaneously control Mario and Luigi along with a battle system that focused more on timing and more elaborate attacks.
“Bowser’s Minions” on the other hand is a real-time strategy game featuring the play as aids to the minions in their operation to save their boss.
Not many may know or remember, but there was a point in the franchise that Bowser became an ally to Mario. The first time ever this happened was in “Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.” In the game Bowser is thrown out of his castle by the Smithy Gang and because of this he reluctantly joins Mario in his quest of collecting the star pieces to repair the mystical Star Road leading to the defeat of the Smithy gang and him returning to his castle.
With the video it showed a lone Goomba rallying an army as he takes the role of captain and gathering the enemies for battle. He will not be the sole captain of the game however as other Captains are shown in the trailer including Boo and Shyguy. Another highlight of the video is on one of the Koopa Kids, joining in on Captain Goomba’s fight.
