In celebration of the Autumnal Equinox and on September 22, 2017, Niantic has announced the a Pokemon GO event will be taking place. Including a variety item bundles, the egg catch and hatch event will be running until October 2, 2017.
The main feature of the event is with the eggs that the player will receive from a gym or Pokestop. These 2km eggs have the chance to hatch into either a Chansey, Larvitar or even a Mareep. As an added bonus, when the egg hatches, the player will receive double Stardust which will be added to every Pokemon capture. This double will turn into a triple if a player is able to find a Pokemon that they haven’t seen before.
On the item bundles to be sold at the event, no prices have been revealed on them but Niantic has revealed its contents. These include, Lucky Eggs, Lure and Super Incubators, a new item to the game which is 1.5 times faster in hatching eggs than standard incubators.
The Autumn Equinox is when the sun’s rays shine directly over the Earth’s equator on the days of September 22 or 23. However, should this occurrence happen on the 20th or 21st of March, then it is to be called the March Equinox. Generally an equinox is described as the moment in which the plane of Earth’s equator passes through the center of the Sun’s disk and that is when the Autumn or March Equinox occurs.
