“New Work” for 'Sword Art Online' Franchise Confirmed!

Posted in: Anime News

During the release of the DVD rental version of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale on Tuesday, a new intro text was added before the start of the movie. The said text states that the SAO movie’s post-credits scenes is a teaser trailer for a “new work”.

In the original film version, it only included the teaser after the movie’s credits but not show the mentioned intro screen. In the said teaser, a character says “Welcome to Rath” which is a company that plays a key part of the “Alicization Arc” in the orginal Sword Art Online novel. This arc is after the Phantom Bullet and Mother’s rosario arc respectively (which were shown and adapted into the anime).

On October 1, a Sword Art Online stage panel will happen during the “Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten 2017” at the Belle Salle and UDX venues in Tokyo’s Akihabara District. The panel will confirm some big announcements in relation to the franchise. The segment will be hosted by Rina Hidaka, the Japanese voice actress of Silica and will have special guests like Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Yosuke Futami, author Reki Kawahara, and Dengeki Bunko editor Kazuma Miki. Majority of the Sword Art Online cast have confirmed their attendance in this special event.

With that said, there seems to be more things coming for Sword Art Online fans. Let’s hope this “new work” is going to something worth looking forward to!
