Posted in: Anime News

Character Meliodas of the “Nanatsu no Taizai” a.k.a. “The Seven Deadly Sins” franchise takes a step into the “Monster Strike” verse for a smartphone game collaboration this year. Announced on the official game site on Thursday, Meliodas will be found in the “Dragon’s Sin Meliodas” version of the game.

The date for the collaboration launch is set for September 11 and with it are different features for fans to enjoy. First there are the in-game prizes and items from the “Seven Deadly Sins” franchise, then from September 16 to October 2, there will be a offering of LINE messaging and social media app stamps up for grabs. Along with these are social media icons and a chance to win real-world gold coins and other items with a prize lottery and a chance to gain social media icons.

Meliodas who will also be having his demon version in the game with different abilities will not be the only playable character in the game. Players will also have the chance to enjoy the appearance of the following characters in the game:

Sin Ban
Grizzly’s Sin King
Serpent’s Sin Diane
Goat’s Sin Gowther
New Generation of Holy Knights Jericho
New Generation of Holy Knights Guila
Holy Knight Gilthunder, Fairy Helbram
Great Holy Knight Hendrickson
Demon Hendrickson
Princess Elizabeth with Talking Pig Hawk.

This is not the first time the Monster Strike anime or games entered into a collaboration. In previous times, the franchise has done collaborations with different series including “Fullmetal Alchemist” and “Final Fantasy.”

It was in 2013 in Japan that the smartphone game was first released by social networking service mixi. Then in 2014, an English version of the game was released by XFLAG in North America. The game however, did not gain much success as by August 1, it was shut down but luckily got back up again in 2014 with a release in Taiwan and South Korea.

Now as of January, the game has over 40 million players according to its staff and in the course of tits run, has branched out to the 3DS port and has two anime seasons and a film inspired by the game.

Prior to the collaboration launch though, players will have a chance to win bonuses for the limited time of September 9 to 14 with an in-game event. For everyday a player logs in, they receive one Orb. On Saturday and Sunday there will be an increase in rates of getting a “huge success” results and rewards for completing daily quests and combining monsters.

The downside to these bonuses however is that by participating in this high chance reward game, players will lose half of their normal amount of stamina. To counterbalance this, they are also given the option of completing normal quests and receiving double XP.

Full details on the collaboration can also be found in the beginning section of the official “MonSuto News” video.

Coming in January for the “Nanatsu no Taizai” franchise is a new season for the anime series followed by an anime film to be released in summer 2018. Just in August, a four-episode special titled, “The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War” was released.
