Moving onto the PC via Steam is the action RPG game “Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight.” Announced by Bandai Namco, the game will be released on September 12 and is taking on a new title, “Accel World vs. Sword Art Online Deluxe Edition.”
The game will be released in its full version and will also be featuring the DLC pack, “SAO Origins,” and “SAO Ordinal Scale.” In the original version of the game, the gameplay featured what is called as a “Ground-Sky Active Change Battle system.” This gameplay allows players to form a party of three and engage in battles either in the sky or on the ground.
“Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight” was originally released in March 2017 in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. The game later received a Western release in July 2017. As the name states, the game makes a cross between the Sword Art Online and Accel World franchises.
The story of the game begins with certain characters of the “Sword Art Online” world having a peaceful day when out of the blue an announcement was made, saying that starting that day there will be undergoing maintenance. This announcement results in the characters being dropped in the realm of Accel World and from this the two worlds being to collide.
“Sword Art Online” is an action adventure light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec. Featuring the tale of a distant future where groups of people ending up trapped in a virtual world due to a new piece of technology which connects the minds of the players to the game.
The light novels were later adapted into eight different manga published by ASCII Media Works and Kadokawa. Then in between July and December 2012 in Japan, an anime adaptation of the series was made and ran for 25 episodes. Later on the series received not only a second season but also four video games and a film as well.
“Accel World” on the other hand is an action cyberpunk light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by HiMA. First published by ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint from February 2009, the series was later adapted into 2 manga series in May 2010 by Dengeki Bunko Magazine. Then from April to September 2012, the anime adaptation came and ran for a total of 24 episodes plus 2 OVAs. The story of the series featured a young overweight male named Haruyuki “Haru” Arita and his journey through an Augmented Reality Massively Multiplayer Online (ARMMO) Fighting Game alongside the popular Kuroyukihime
